Fabulous Fosters!

Have you ever visited your local shelter and looked at all those big sad eyes, and wondered how you could possibly help these amazing creatures? There are lots of ways to help shelter animals in need of extra care and attention. Care taking, fundraising, writing grants, and dog walking are just a few you can do, but have you ever considered being a foster? In this past year we’ve experienced some amazing foster stories which have helped Intermountain Humane Society provide loving care for animals that may not have thrived in the shelter life otherwise. Obi Wan was a cattle dog mix that came to the shelter in December of 2016. We knew the moment he arrived he was going to need some special

Volunteer of the Month for March: Susan Lee

Susan's tireless efforts all around the shelter don't go unnoticed. She does so much for IMHS each and every week. Susan Lee came to Colorado after her husband, Chuck, was promoted in his company. Susan retired from her job as an administrative assistant at a large law firm in Chicago. Susan like most retirees needed a new vocation in her life. She loves dogs and has always had 1-3 dogs as her pets, especially Chihuahuas. Susan began to volunteer in November of 2015. She walked dogs and cleaned cat cages. She then began getting involved with just about everything else at the shelter from transports to pet adoption events to fund raisers. Susan became a Volunteer Ambassador and now is at th

IMHS Wins Non-Profit of the Year!

WOW! This is a big year for IMHS. Not only is it our 35 Anniversary but won the popular vote of the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce's award for Best Non-Profit for the 2016-2017 year. We are stunned, humbled and honored. And proud to be here with these other winners who do so much for our mountain community. Through a generous donation by a board member we were able to have a table at the March 9th event held at Tomahawk Ranch in Bailey. In attendance were Aly Stein, Shelter Manager, Lindsey Marsh, Board Member and Fundraising Chair, Lauren Drabble Board President, as well as a few faithful volunteers and donors who contributed to IMHS in 2016. We know that we won because we are working har

New local option for Volunteer of the Month Prize!

Thanks to Jack and Allison Hansell for opening up their award winning brewery in Bailey and having a heart to give back to the local community! Now Mad Jacks Mountain Brewery has joined our existing Volunteer of the Month program sponsor, Alamo Movie Drafthouse in Littleton, to be our local option. So every month when the volunteer of the month is selected they will now get to choose either 2 tickets to Alamo or receive a certificate for a free growler and growler fill of their choice of Mad Jack's awesome brews (some restrictions applies and some brews are seasonal.) As always, please support those who support IMHS and THANK them for all they do for us!

February Volunteer of the Month

Lisa Hoffman has been chosen as our Volunteer of the Month for Feb 2017! Lisa has been a stellar volunteer Volunteer Coordinator which means she was working full time at her own career as a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway and doing the work of a volunteer coordinator for IMHS as a volunteer. Most shelters have paid staff because it is such demanding work. We tried for over a year to make this arrangement work and it was just not possible. So Lisa kindly stepped aside for Nancy Parks to take over as staff on this. Lisa continues to work on fundraising events for IMHS as well as sponsor IMHS as the graphics donor on our van and she planned, organized and led a heckuva fun Volunteer Appreciat
