Storm Chasers

When Storm, a sweet and petrified pregnant one-year old lab/border collie mix was transferred to IMHS from an overcrowded shelter in Southern Colorado, we knew she couldn’t stay in the shelter. Rescued from a hoarding situation and scared of the world, she was expected to deliver any day and the shelter is no place for puppies and a stressed out mom. With no immunity to many of the diseases or illnesses that might pass through the shelter, the puppies would be at high risk. Plus, the crazy hectic shelter environment is not a good place for a momma dog who is worried about keeping her pups safe. So after Storm had her vet checkup, she was immediately sent to a foster home. We were so luck

New Year's Resolution to Volunteer More?

Running a small non-profit relies on volunteers. We have only a few staff and every other need is filled by volunteers. Everyone on the Board and everyone who runs the Thrift Store are all volunteers. Our committees, events and fundraising are all by volunteers. We have volunteers for every aspect and facet of running a business. But we need more! We need your skills, time and attention. Some things are project based and some are daily but whatever you have to offer, we need you! Just bring your willing spirit to us and we'll find someplace that suits you, makes you feel good, helps IMHS and the animals. And if you are afraid to come into the shelter because you'll want to adopt all the ani

Have you seen our new animal transport van?

Late last summer we started a Capital Campaign. It was successful and got us our new van. Check out the pictures for our amazing van, now including the awesome new graphics! And even better….look for the van driving around town – it will be easy to spot and will provide comfortable transportation for animals and people. Lisa Hoffman, IMHS Volunteer Coordinator & Realtor at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Elevated Living Real Estate, worked closely with Chris, owner, at K2 Graphics in Evergreen to create this exciting display. Chris provided a very professional installation, and with care, these graphics will last us for many years to come. Here’s the extra great news…..Lisa Hoffman

December 2016 Volunteers of the Month

Please help us in honoring the Faraco-Hadlock family! Their son Nicholas has been helping us foster kittens for a long time and now the whole family has pitched in and done an amazing job with Storm and her nine puppies! Pictured is Nicholas along with his mom and dad Greta and Mark, and his sister Amelia. Such a large litter is a daunting experience even for the most weathered foster homes and this family took it on like champs. They have returned to us healthy, well socialized and happy puppies that are now going through the next phase of their little lives. We know that they spent many sleepless nights tending to the care of these little ones and their very timid mothe

2017 Is Going to be the BEST Yet!

Happy New Year from the whole crew here at Intermountain Humane Society! It has been an exciting year full of new things for IMHS and we want to remind everyone that we could not be where we are today without your help! Thank you to each and every one of our community supporters. Whether you have given donations, come in and volunteered or simply shared our organization with a friend, YOU are the reason we can save lives every day. We are simply amazed at the incredible outpouring of generosity throughout this year and especially this holiday season and have been able to accomplish so much because of that kindness. Through 2016 we have brought 430 cats and 185 dogs into the safety of our c
