Augusts Volunteer of the Month

This month we have a team of two special volunteers that we would like to recognize ...

Bob and Karen Burden

Bob began volunteering at IMHS by transporting cats from New Mexico. I was one of the first trainers with Bob and we spent a delightful day driving, I learned that Bob was a retired police officer and lawyer. I did not meet his better half, wife Karen, until later when she too started volunteering by helping Bob take cats down to the pet stores. Then they began helping with dog adoption events.

A little background about Bob and Karen: The Burden's moved into Pine about 2.5 years ago. They have 3 grown children, 1 daughter in Texas, 2 sons in the Denver area and 2 grandchildren.

Karen and Bob are not only generous with their time in volunteering but they are also very generous with their home. After deciding what IMHS wanted to do for this year's Cause for Paws (C4P), Karen and Bob volunteered their arena for us to use for our Hoedown. It was a huge success that would not have been possible without the use of their property for the staging location. They have promised us that they will never move so we can have the Hoedown there every year. Not only did they allow us to have the C4P hoedown but have also offered us use of the arena for the agility training of our shelter dogs.

We could have not asked for better people that found their way to our shelter! All of us at IMHS thank Bob and Karen for their generosity ... not only for the time they give to the shelter but the use of the beautiful arena.

Thank you from the bottom of our Paws!
