Wish List

Intermountain Humane Society has a number of items on our "wish list" that would benefit our homeless animals.  IMHS is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization, so the value of donated items will be tax deductible.  Our organization relies solely on donations and the generosity of our community.  Please contact us at the IMHS office at 303-838-2668 or email us at [email protected] concerning donating items on our wish list.

Board of Directors

bulletMembers of the Board of Directors must be current paid members of IMHS
bulletThe Board of Directors sets goals for IMHS and provides policies for the Executive director for implement
bulletThe Board generally meets 11 times yearly, with additional committee meetings for many Board Members. 
bulletBoard emphasis is on goals, policies and resource acquisition
bulletBoard members are needed with business or management experience, professional skills, community involvement backgrounds and personal dedication.

Foster Homes

bulletFoster Homes are needed for dogs and cats.  We also occasionally need foster homes for ferrets, rabbits, horses and a wide variety of animals
bulletFoster homes will be supplied with equipment such as kennels, dog houses, litter boxes, cat playpens, bowls, leashes and other supplies
bulletFoster homes must commit to getting pets to and from adoption displays on Saturdays and to veterinary appointments.
bulletFoster homes must commit to working with behavior and training issues, since not every foster dog is fully trained from day one!

 

Adoption Display Volunteers

bulletWe need volunteers at adoption displays for a variety of tasks.
bulletVolunteers must learn IMHS adoption and record-keeping standards and can work their way up from a volunteer in training to a fully-certified adoptions counselor.
bulletTraining programs will be available to help volunteers learn about IMHS and animal welfare, behavior and health issues.

 

Office Administration

bulletWe need individuals who can volunteer days or partial days on a regular basis to help staff the IMHS business office
bulletDuties will include answering the telephone, basic computer date entry, donation management, community education and general office administration.
bulletWe also need help with database management, desktop publishing skills, website development (we currently use FrontPage) and a variety of computer-related skills.

Emergency Preparedness

Veterinary Assistance

bulletWe have opportunities and training in helping provide veterinary care for animals in our Veterinary Service Program.

Public Education and Volunteer Training

bulletDevelopment and distribution of educational information on animal welfare, pet overpopulation, proper veterinary care and emergency preparedness for families with pets and livestock.

bulletSeminars for IMHS volunteers concerning animal care, IMHS services, animal behavior and many other topics.

Veterinary Service Program

Opportunities for Medical and Veterinary Professionals to Donate Supplies and Equipment to the VSP
bulletMedical and Veterinary Professionals often come across equipment and supplies that are either no longer needed or no longer usable for their organization
bulletIMHS can provide refurbishing, re-sterilization and sorting of small or large lots of equipment and supplies
bulletWe can arrange for pickup on the Front Range or help with shipment of equipment and supplies.
bulletIMHS can provide receipts for donated materials that may provide a tax-deduction for individuals or companies.
bulletNo donation is too small or too large.  If we do not directly need donated equipment, we will find another non-profit that can use it, or "adopt" it out to an organization in order to support IMHS activities.

Equipment Needs: 

bulletAnesthesia and Patient Monitoring Equipment
bulletDiagnostic, X-Ray, and Laboratory Equipment
bulletSurgical Equipment:  Surgical Instruments, orthopedic equipment, electro-surgical equipment, tables, carts, lights
bulletAnimal cages, stainless or fiberglass-covered
bulletCritical Care equipment (infant incubator, oxygen equipment, temperature control equipment, ekg equipment, IV equipment)
bulletDental Equipment and hand instruments (extractors, elevators and cleaning instruments)

Medical Supplies Needed:

bulletSurgical supplies (suture, gloves, drapes, packs, staplers, gowns, sterile wrapping materials, electrocautery supplies).  IMHS will re-sterilize items as appropriate.
bulletSyringes, catheters and sundry items (IV catheters, IV sets, IV accessories, other catheters, suction tubing, and a wide variety of disposable supplies)
bulletLaboratory Supplies (test tubes, markers, racks, slides)
bulletOrthopedic supplies (pins, plates, screws, etc, open but not used)
Current Special Equipment Needs:
