Mount Evans Regional Animal Center Initiative

Mission:  To organize community support in Park and Southwestern Jefferson County for the eventual construction of an animal shelter initially called the Mount Evans Regional Animal Center. 

Lead Agency: Intermountain Humane Society will serve as the initial lead agency in this project.

Specific Goals of the MERAC Initiative Advisory Committee:

 Investigate the feasibility of the MERAC Initiative, including demographics, community needs and community resources.

Develop a practical consensus of the general operational standards for an animal shelter in the mountain community.

bullet

Develop a clear understanding of how the MERAC facility would interact with local animal control agencies, Table Mountain Animal Center, Intermountain Humane Society and Evergreen Animal Protective League.

Develop a financial plan and appropriate financial support for the MERAC Initiative

bullet

Evaluate potential properties and secure a parcel of property for eventual construction of the MERAC facility.
