IMHS Feral Cat Programs

A feral cat is a wild-born, non-socialized cat.  They usually live near people and depend on people in most cases for food.  Feral cats can be very dangerous to handle as they are essentially wild creatures.   IMHS cannot accept unwanted feral cats into the shelter since we have no homes in which to place them and we would be forced to euthanize them.

IMHS can assist parties who are caring for feral cats in managing small to medium sized groups of feral cats.  We can provide live-traps, sterilization and basic veterinary care.  IMHS will only provide this care if someone will take responsibility for management of the individual cat or colony of feral cats (food, water, etc).  IMHS insists that all individual cats within a colony be trapped and sterilized in order to control their reproduction.  Kittens can often be tamed and adopted into homes.

There is a deposit for use of live-traps and a very reasonable fee for feral cat services.

Please Call 303-838-2668 or email us concerning feral cat issues.
